I thought that was when he was trying to instigate a teachers strike and there was a chinese whisper thing through the crowd and "purple monkey dishwasher" got added to whatever he said.
nerd
But I think he's a correct nerd

One method I've found good is to just come up with one band name for each letter of the alphabet, sort of free associating. That's how I came up with my current band's name: Quiver of Arrows. Sure, you might end up with some awful band names, but you've got 26 to choose from! Have each band member do it and you've got 78, 104, or maybe 130 to go over!
The band before that was St. Vincent and the Grenadines. I liked it because it was the name of the country, but it was also in the form of "(person name) and the (thing)s". The band agreed.
Before that was Island Uprising, which was named after a song we covered. In general, I don't like the idea of naming a band after a song, especially someone else's song, but Island Uprising is such a great band name that it worked out.
I had a girlfriend who wanted me to be in a band called "Cannibal Fetus". It's pretty cool, if only because there actually is such a thing, but I've never been in a band that that name would suit. Anyone's free to use it, if you like. Except you Britons, who would have to be called "Cannibal Foetus".

that's a cool way to come up with stuff lvp.
another one i've been kicking around lately, it's free for anyone that wants to use it, is "Static Quo". kind of a play on status quo.

My band is called Young Dudes. As in the Bowie/Mott the Hoople song "All the Young Dudes." I've never regretted it. My last band was called "Michael Ellis," after the Monty Python episode. I regretted it every single time I had to explain to someone that no one in the bands name was Michael Ellis.

3 bands currently:
Century Rocket Building- named after the first word of each verse of one of our songs.
Bearhawk- named after a fictional wilderness crime-fighting duo that we (me and my bandmates) created. Also gave birth to a new term for taking a crap: Dropping a bear in the lake. *note: prolly gonna change this one though as bands like Bearclaw and Bear vs. Shark become more popular.
joesepi- named after some cock-rock pompous asshole.
Old band names:
Farm Team
Lonnie Giles All Star Team- named after a fella in a group home for retarded adults of whom I used to look after.
Man Hat and Glasses
ex-Fuck You Dude - so in our bio, we could say we were ex-ex-Fuck You Dude members.
Big Mud Wagon- an Idaho BMW (lived in Boise then and that was a postcard)
Louie De Palmer- named after Danny DeVito in Taxi (except we spelt it wrong. almost named the band Rega after Judd Hirsch)
Friends of Enemies- taken from FOE (friends of the eagle legion thing)
But best is our record label umbrella type thing:
Pensamplivox- I used to write things down (not anymore, that will get you in trouble) and when I came across this one for our label, I thought I had gotten it from a Discovery channel type show about early tape recorders or something. Did a search on Google after we had decided on it and found (and remembered) that it was from a Pinky and the Brain episode where Brain finds his parents. They only squeak being mice, so he creates a pensamplivox to translate the mouse squeaks into words. Its a bitch to try and get people to spell right though, so we have been using pvx records for short.

The Seaward - The name of George Oscar Bluth's boat. Also makes us sound like a June of 44 band which couldn't be further from the truth. I like that.

!Draw! (the first exclamation point would be upside down)
If some one was drawing a gun in about a second and a bullet is going be flying at you... it's gives that intense excitement and nervousness, it's a in- your-face feeling. so I think that's pretty cool and sort of reflects the music. the music also has that old dark western feeling to it times, but it's not exaggerated.

I'll refrain from explaining the origins of naming the last three bands I was in...they're all pretty shitty... aw, the hell with it. In short, Avant Jared was an in joke, which is something you should never do. Supersnake was okay but utterly lame; but Boot Lickin' Shovel Diggers?! What the fuck was in our drinks? That's 16 for you!
I will say that we had some great band names that never got used because they were pretty offensive:
Hymietown
Step & Fetch It
Ms. Nancy
and...
Rick Silver & The Date Rape.
Granted, they're no "Bruised Pussy" but what is really?
