I think that my first real or club show had to have been some Wax Trax deal. I think it was Front 242 at the Riviera. Hell, I don't know. I can't remember; drugs and all.

I was 10, and my older sister brought me. The tickets cost 8 pounds each.

I thought it was great.

It was sponsored by Colgate, and everyone got free toothpaste when they were leaving.

I brought the show brochure and the toothpaste into school the next day. Proud as punch I was, and with clean teeth to boot.

My first non-rock performance was seeing Five-Style, The Isley Brothers, and Luther Vandross. They played in the round. My sister set me up on a blind-date when I was, like, fourteen. My date was this plus-sized teen model. We didn't do it.
