Nice.
Now, Tortoise:
I enjoy the Tortoise. I have the deep love for the first record. Deep.
I have the secondary deep love for the 12" single "Gamera."
The third love is for "Millions" but it is almost equalled to the second love via the "Millions" Japanese import which contains "Gamera."
"TNT", it took me awhile. It was a different animal, not so much the drippy 70's amplifier/speaker lovliness, rather a clean digital animal. Yet I do like it. I have the first
like of Tortoise for this record.
"Standards" is an excellent record to soundtrack hour #2 of a party. Personal listening, I like it the second, but have rarely listened to it outside of the initial 6 month period.
"It's All Around You" has strong liking. I purchased this in Germany and it was in foremost rotation for a week's travel. The airplane ride back also benefitted, but have not listened to it much in past months.
Hmm. A good Tortoise shuffle on the iPod is seemingly merited.
Damn, though. Nothing beat witnessing "Gamera" live circa "Millions" period.
Tortoise did a lot to broaden my music habits at a time that was necessary. Who would have expected that music on the first record from ex-Tar Babies, Bastro, Precious Wax Drippings (& Poster Children) and Eleventh Dream Day?
Not I, sirs. Not I.
Not me. That's for sure.
That's a lasting impression.
