For the life of me I can't figure out why these aren't Travis Bean popular.

Other famous players are/were Bernard Sumner while in Joy Division, Peter Hook (8 string bass) while in both bands, Julian Cope, Marty Willson-Piper (12 string), Graham Coxon (who also played a the similar Hayman), Adam Franklin.
