I commend you for your decision. I too am following this path...although I just got started. We celebrate our 6th next month. Being married rules.

Also in the No Kids Klub.
I get my extremely cool godkids jacked up on sugar then return them to their parents.

Everyone just kind sat there and thought to themselves for a minute. Really made some people think.

I dig Bernard

To me that's just common sense. Too bad most people get their marriage advice from sitcoms and beer commercials.

MOST of the people I know who are married are not bestest friends ever with their wife or husband, they have to hide shit and lie and talk shit about them constantly.....it's a real shame. I don't understand it at all.
Why be in that situation? Being single is awesome.
I guess some people just get married because that's what they are spossed to do at a certain point and they don't really have many hobbies or creative outlets so they just do the get married buy a house have a kid thing. Gives them something to focus on I suppose.
I just love when they see marrying some terrible worthless blonde lincoln park girl as a sign of maturity and growing up.
Some of these women my friends have married are just AWFUL, and they know it...everyone knows it, you can see it from a passing car.

Yeah. I hear this.

Why would you all of a sudden start wishing you had kids?

For that horrible, selfish, insane "Someone To Take Care Of Me When I Am Old" thing?

Things, including offspring, don't always work out like you want them to.
Maybe you turn 60 and you wind up being a parent to your crazy, fucked-up kid's children, hence ruining the "retirement" you were so looking forward to by another dozen years of ugly plastic toys littering your house and yard, school meetings, soccer, etc.

I'm going to be 50 soon. I have no regrets. I don't plan on being a doddering old fool at 60, revolving my life around my offspring and grandkiddies.

I have seen two close friends getting a divorce within a few months time this year. Both have kids. One, who is incidentally also my drummer, has been living in my house for a while. I have never seen anything like seeing this normally cheerful rock dudes turn to complete shit in so little time. I wouldn't necessarily call it "entertainment."

Marriage, I'm pretty sure, is not for me.

Not at all, and i most definitely don't want kids right now, either (which is a good thing since i'm single). It's more of an occasional selfish "i don't want to die alone" sort of thing. Since the breakup of my relationship last year i've seen segments of my social group shift so radically that i've started to realize that my blood family may very well end up being the only constant in my life, so occasionally that makes me think i should have kids.

Also, Idiocracy's first 10 minutes scared the crap out of me and got me thinking that it's my civic duty to bring some smart kids into the world to offset all the dumbasses.

None of this has me scouring the personals looking for a woman wantin' to settle down, though, so i'm sure i'll get over it.
