The Austin show was excellent.
The crowd talked way, WAY too much, but Austin crowds don't shut up for anything. It was nice to see the New Year.
I couldn't see the idiot in the front from where I was standing, but it was nice to see him get bounced.
The questions were apalling. However, a pal of mine witnessed Todd's godlike "drumming face," turned to me and said, "He kind of like Stanley Spidowski from 'UHF.' Someone should ask him where his broom is.
V. funny to see Glass Eye keyboard goddess Stella Weir say hi to Steve, only to see the fanboys that were obviously lightly stalking Steve sort of stare and her with looks that said, "who is this square-looking woman who might has well be wearing pearls and why is Steve hugging her?" (Glass Eye have been playing out here and there for the hell of it.)
First time hearing "End of Radio." It was great.
Last time I saw them was in Chicago, 2001, first night of that two night stand in between the Ex and Fugazi, not a fun slot for any band.
Anyway, yes, ATX gig ruled.

103A lot of "what kind of bass is that?" It was answered at least twice.

105A grey one. Had these knobs and stuff... four strings. Kinda cool, I guess.
How many times did they request for songs after Bob clearly said that they were taking questions, not requests?
"Will you play WINGWALKER?!"
Bitch! What did he just say?
Anywho, my guess: 7

106My favorite question:
"Who are the Astros gonna play in the playoffs?"
Bob, without skipping a beat: "Nobody, next question!"

107But the Houston show was great.
"The End of the Radio" and "Copper" were real highlights among highlights, for me.
Also, the song where Steve started out singing by himself. I've been trying to find out what that song was called all day!
Oh and:
I was near the front in front of Bob, but I couldn't see his shirt. When I looked back at the pic, I regret not taking a closer look. I love your stuff, jayryan.

108I thought it was funny. Took me a while to cook that question up (not really).
Good times.

i was going to joke by playing a semantic nazi and pointing out that technically "will you play winwalker?" is a question, not a request. it doesn't even imply that this person wants to hear winwalker ("will you play wingwalker? man who invented fire would be a much better choice"). but i realized there is no way i can say this without making an impression of being serious, so forget it.
