Fuck it, i'm going to say it...
I don't feel good about this at all, but 'Our Day Trip' from 'On Leaving' by Nina Nastasia. The subtlety and depth of this record, it's incredible simplicity and economy combined with Nina's oddly stoic romanticism, truly makes it a thing of wonder. It would be perfect, but 'Our Day Trip' fucks everything up. Basically, it makes the record appear to be more slight than it actually is. I understand the sequencing, supposedly disarming and gentle song swiftly followed by emotional sucker punch of 'Counting Up Your Bones', but play the album without it and tell me that it doesn't leave even more of an impression.

Actually I'm thinking Wrong Em Boyo from that album.
I wonder which songs people would want removed from Sandinista.

the whole dang album! (just kidding) maybe i'm thinking of Combat Rock. that could definitely lose a few songs...
there are actually surprisingly few records with songs which trouble me so much i have to skip them. usually when it happens it's because they're hackneyed, overplayed to death, superhits which i just don't need to hear again (for this century at least).

One of my favorite albums is White Light/White Heat, but "The Gift,"...ugh. They get a good groove goin, then Cale starts telling some high school creative writing class short story and it all goes to shit.
