No, I actually use it more for clean, non-distorted, sounds more than anything else. Like The Milf said...just keep your gain low. It's pretty awesome sounding.
Oh, and fuck Mars Volta.

inotherwords, can i use just the booster?

cause that's the way i like it.

just wondering

The amount of boost is dependant on where you have the gain set. If you have the gain all the way down the boost will not do much, but with the gain set higher you get a bigger "jump" when engaging the boost.

The boost works best with the gain set between 9 and 12 o-clock. Which is a slightly overdrven sound too a distorted sound.

I think a lot of folks us the TS-50B with the boost on all the time.

thank you for the response.

i am unfamiliar with this amp.

i was picturing a 10db(or there abouts) clean boost
as found on many an overdrive/distortion pedal.

again, thank you for humoring me.
i would add to the requests for mp3s.

as i am unfamiliar with this amp.

p.s. you've made a very pretty looking pedal.

One thing that I've wanted to really mention, but keep forgetting to, is that the build quality of the pedal blew me away. I didn't really know what to expect I guess...considering how many "custom" pedals I've bought in the past were completely amateur in their quality. But this pedal impressed me. And that's hard to do. Great work.
Oh, and fuck Mars Volta.

I love the Rusty Box.
Love.
It.

I used it on bass a little bit, and it sounds incredible, but I think I need to futz with it a little more. The tone I use is very mid-60's, and super bass heavy.
I know that's not what you had in mind when you built this thing.
I need to use it with my bass amp at stage volume, which I can only do at practice. I use an Ampeg V4B with a 6x10 cab. It stays at our practice space, in storage. I can only haul it out when we play.

I loved the bass tones I was getting. I'm not sure they work in my current band yet, but that's not because the sounds aren't awsome.
I do side work a lot, and I have some ideas of how I can use it for those projects.

I've had a lot of time with it on guitar. Using an SG Classic (P90s), a Shergold Masquerader, a Gretsch 6122jr, a Rickenbacker 330 and a Travis Bean 1000s. I played through a Matchless HD30 into a Matchless ESS 1x12 cab.

I got a variety of sounds, every single one of them great. I wasn't aware that this thing could get so hot, I thought it was more of an OD. It is both a perfect OD and an amazing Distortion.

If I can't tweak it for my bass sound, then I'm sure that I'll be ripping my Overdrive off of my pedalboard in favor of the Rusty.
It is freakin' brilliant on guitar.

Nicely done, Milford.
