He s in the shitty position of being insanely talented but low ranked. No one will touch it.Nunes/Cyborg confirmed for December. Very exciting. Agree with what you wrote about the sport. I see infinitely more dedication, hard work and sacrifice in the fighters of the UFC than 99.9% of artists.

Trey, almost to the T, I agree with you. I think Khabib will win, and I think he'll get it by TKO. I, too, hope it goes more than just 30 fucking dumb seconds. Has Khabib faced a cement of a left fist like Conor's? I can't really recall. That'll be the test. How can he take one of those nutso punches. Can't wait to watch this fight, even if it's sipping a coco-cola at a fucking buffalo wild wings, dear god, kill me, what have I become.....

Both Conor and his coach are super smart ” khabib doing what he did to Michael Johnson and Barboza would ruin Conor s entire brand. It would just be completely humiliating for someone like CM. So much more so than the Diaz/Mayweather losses. You d think there s no way he is taking this fight without figuring out and cementing a way to completely neutralise that (kinda like how Jon Jones always used to bring some flashy new trick to each fight). His take down defence has always been good, but Chad Mendes still had him in a lot of trouble.I also wonder if he has still has the same hunger/drive he once did post Mayweather/$$$$.I think Ike is right about Khabib s ability to take the left being the deciding factor. Only time he has ever caught a really good shot was against Michael Johnson. Handled it well enough, but it s not a lot to go on. Thing about Khabib is he never faced a really great fighter. Undefeated, has the UFC record for most consecutive rounds won (34!), but the best fighters he s faced are RDA and Barboza. It s impossible to know exactly how good he is until he fights someone that can challenge him (Tony/Conor/Brian Ortega).Obviously Conor is the phenomenal stand up and Khabib the phenomenal wrestler, but the one advantage Khabib has over Conor is cardio. I think will khabib will just try to tire him in the first couple of rounds. He doesn t even have to get the take down. Just ugly/boring grinding in the clinch/against the cage ” imposing his will. He has continually said he wants to draw it out for as long as possible ( œhumble him )There s a press conference next week ” will be very interesting to see Conor attempt to get into Khabib s head. I think its definitely possible, but I wonder if Khabib is a rare case of performing better with a bit of anger to fuel him. Conor has already gone after his dad on twitter (!?).I could go on and on about this fight and would love to discuss it more, but will leave it at that for now.

Looking at it in strictly "Can Wile E. Coyote ever actually catch the Road Runner?" terms, the problem seems pretty obvious.Conor has just one path to, maybe, having a chance at a win. That's staying on his feet, and throwing punches. That is pretty serious problem against an opponent who knows full and well that it is the case. Looking at the Mayweather fight, Conor just isn't a guy who is still really sharp when he is winded. If Khabib can avoid that obvious issue, he has a pretty good shot at just being able to put all of his weight on Conor and try to win it on points. This is the guy that will be trying to take it to the ground...

After watching the press conference I m going with Khabib.Conor seems oddly flustered and out of breath. Also seems like an out of touch Conor playing Conor. Heart doesn t seem in it.All of Khabibs energy is focused on this fight and has been for a long time. Conor wants his whiskey to be successful.Khabib s pious œI don t drink was the highlight.

Have watched the press conference again and am kind of blown away by how dark it is. Have heard people say that Conor resembled the joker, which is pretty accurate. Hell of an entertainer, Conor.Stare down was really intense. The only point khabib looked bad. Uncharacteristicly timid.Would love to hear thoughts from others.

I thought the press conference was a joke. Conor indeed looked out of breath, mostly from trying to promote his new whiskey, whatever the fuck it's called. I read a few reviews of the whiskey, one being 'It tastes like vanilla extract and rubbing alcohol.' Still, anything can happen with this match. But Conor is not in Khabib's head. Khabib might be annoyed by all his bullshit, but the dude is not scared. Just like Nate Diaz wasn't scared before his first fight with Conor. And we know how that went for Conor. I think if Conor doesn't get a quick finish, within 2 rounds at the most, Khabib will have his way with him and exploit Conor's lack of ground game in embarrassing fashion. But who the hell knows.
