Last week the landlords said it would be another 5 weeks before the builders come to damp proof the flat. But I haven't seen a drop yet.
Last year we were in a flat with a hole in the roof. Glad we moved out.

Broken windows and empty hallways
A pale dead moon in the sky streaked with gray
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it's going to rain today
Scarecrows dressed in the latest styles
With frozen smiles to chase love away
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it's going to rain today
Lonely, lonely
Tin can at my feet
Think I'll kick it down the street
That's the way to treat a friend
Bright before me the signs implore me
To help the needy and show them the way
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it's going to rain today

You got to be kidding me. Sheffield and Hull again! I heard about Filey. My family used to holiday there every year when I was little; my most coherent memory is of hailstones the size of golf balls. I also remember reading an excellent book which explained the five senses.
The rain is steady but unspectacular here in Leeds; and kind of a bummer. I'm sure we'd have taken more spectacular angles for fun had this been a typically warm July evening with the stars above. Instead, we retreated to the pub then made for home, with our drunk edges definitely taken off by the rain.
I like this joke: about how cries of 'super, smashing, great' have been heard across South Yorkshire this week as the people of Sheffield and Rotherham finally found a use for that fucking speedboat they won on Bullseye...

There's only one rational explanation.
God hates Gordon Brown.

It was sunny for a couple of hours this morning, the rain has relented a tad but, not for long. Neighbours are hurriedly doing their gardens before the next prolonged downpour. My car seats have dried up slightly. I might fill the holes in the sunroof with superglue or even sellotape as a temporary solution.
