The Prague show was great. They packed about 18 songs into a 90 minute set, including a couple new numbers I hadn't heard before. One of them had a refrain that went "hand over hand over hand..." Could that be the song "Killers"?

They also did the best renditions of "Billiardplayer Song" and "Wingwalker" which I have ever heard, each featuring dramatically drawn-out instrumental and narrative breaks.

It was also the first time I've seen Shellac in which these 'spoken word' breaks were not interrupted by some dumbass in the crowd yelling out some stupid shit.

In fact, the crowd was extremely well-behaved and were totally into it. The energy in the room was tremendous. And it seemed like almost everyone in the room knew the songs by heart.

To wrap things up, it was a memorable performace. I hope the rest of the tour goes just as well.

No, if memory serves that is the new song that they said was about monkeys, possibly cheekily. I am hoping that future listens will prove it to be as good as my first listen suggested. "Killers" is short, instrumental both times I've seen them play it (the release had vocals), and has a bit of Southern twang to my foreign ears.

I was in a great bar in Warsaw last night and saw a bunch of flyers for the Wroclaw show with a photograph of the Excellent Italian Greyhound amidst fruit from behind. I excitedly showed this to my friend and host and she told me not to be such a bloody overstimulated teenager. I grabbed a couple anyway, the show having passed.

So great.

Couples in love stop dead in their tracks, indeed.

I hope you got to eat at U bílé krávy (White Cow) when you were in Prague.

Ten years later and I still dream about that steak.
