What exactly is "Digital" in that amp? Switching relay or something?

They use some digital logic ICs in the signal path to create the drive distortion. Basically slamming the input of a CMOS logic chip to create clipping rather than a diode or an opamp with a BJT or FET input stage. It's actually pretty unique.

I stumbled across this on ebay and I feel like I'm losing my mind.
A Knackered Dano from 2009 went for £3,276. What am I missing?
Is that the going rate now? Was it for charity? Formerly owned by FMDG?
Can we get a 'Serial' type podcast investigation into this please and thank you.
