I had the X5 when I was still playing a lot of electric guitar. I didn't know of the X3, but that's a better format. I rarely needed more than 3 slots (though sometimes would add extra stupid stuff because they were available). The delays and short reverbs are particularly good.
I guess it's also a little less powered. With the X5, could you switch boards without delay? The X3 doesn't, which is not a big deal to me. I paired my board down to an echo, vibrato and trem to keep it simple, but i had a chorus and a phaser that I wanted to try to fit on. There was a bit of delay (maybe 2 seconds?) with the X5. Yes, exactly! Man that's great news and a bit of a relief. We have completed the move to our new offices, and are in the process of setting up the production system and engineering lab.
We plan to resume production of ¼" and ½” tapes in early February 2024. All tapes will continue to be backordered for at least two weeks, so we will be sending updates to affected customers.
Before resuming production, we will upgrade some key components of the automation system, and then make updated lab samples to confirm that the production system is properly calibrated.

If you continue down your exploration of modded Tube Screamers, the best one I’ve tried on bass to date is the JHS Moonshine V2. I already have a mini Ibanez Mini tube screamer, my first one. My absolute favorite has been the Walrus Voyager, it has something in the midrange that just gets to me. It's the lynchpin of my pedalboard. Anyway, I thought some of the mods on the Series 3 were interesting and I'd love to put it on a bass.
