I just picked up a "broken" Orange Rockerverb 50 2x12" combo for a killer price. It's the original version, not the MkII or MkIII. It has an unusual 4x6V6 power section, which I think that I might like. I should post my review in the "micro reviews" thread.
The broken aspect has so far turned out to be one bad power tube and some dirty pots. Now I feel like I ripped some dude off.
Re: What are you buying, What's on its way?
1062I should be taking delivery today of an emerald green Guild Starfire. Not sure which number it is- the semi-hollow double cut with bigsby. Got it for considerably less than what I was prepared to pay for an epi dot. Not sure if I'll gel w/ the trem, and may end up buying a trapeze tailpiece at some point.

1063That's legit broken. The killer price factors in your time and knowledge required to fix it.benadrian wrote: Fri Feb 16, 2024 4:50 pmThe broken aspect has so far turned out to be one bad power tube and some dirty pots. Now I feel like I ripped some dude off.
Re: What are you buying, What's on its way?
1064I'd say probably a third of every "broken" amp I buy is something simple like this. A dirty jack, or a fast blow fuse in place of a slow blow. It happens quite often.matttkkkk wrote: Sat Feb 17, 2024 12:31 amThat's legit broken. Funny, I owned an amp by RATT once. Bought from a PRF member years ago. It's now resting at EA as the resident SVT amp.

1068Both of these are a win! Highly recommend both of them if you have very specific use cases like I do.four_oclocker_2.2 wrote: Thu Feb 15, 2024 11:15 am Land Devices HP-2
I have a Collins HP clone that I bought years ago, and while it sounds great, not having a power supply option plus the flipped jacks make it not super friendly for a board. I generally love what the Land Devices folks are doing and this particular HP-2 is yellow, which looks pretty good!
Tiptop Audio Happy Ending Kit
Sold off a bunch of my modular stuff (including that big ass case I had) but I still have a few modules around. This will let me set those up and screw it into my rack mount cabinet thing for easy set-up into my recording equipment. AND it doesn't take up any additional floor or desk space. Stoked!

Don’t put those things together. There are so many parts and you’re competing with precocious rich kids and their parent’s credit cards. Put together Teles.
I think I’m two bone stock Fralins away from completing it at this point. It’s been years so waiting another few weeks to get those won’t hurt.
Plus I have to do better about getting my repair pile sorted and sold. And I’m on the lookout for a lipstick Strat pickguard I can put on my 12-string that is in pieces at the moment.
I like having different guitars I can easily switch around when recording, but I find I don’t use as many amps and the upkeep is costing too much. I’m going to sell most of them, then keep whatever is working and used most often, and I’ll also keep whatever is too fucked up to really sell. I have some real nightmares that are still pretty fun to play through.
