Ace, have contacted other users of this, akhem, broadband internet provider? It's just insane!

Exactly. I'm "dude in rock bands with other dudes approaching 40." It feels silly sometimes, but it's so much cooler than, "dude who drinks beer and watches sitcoms." Or, "dude who spends all extra income on techie gadgets and drinking at frat bars.

Should I move to uptown?
Found a kickass place there but i feel like I'll be far away from things. Donno. I like the lake.

Ace: Marsupialized is right. Alert the media about that shit. They'll probably even consult a lawyer as part of the story, which means free legal advice to help you get started doing whatever it is you need to do about the situation. Dealing with Verizon sucks incredible amounts of ocelot cock and if you can use the rabid sensationalist media to do some good in the world, grab that opportunity. Good luck!
Electrons: You need to get a Speedo to go with that look.
Kayte: Ben and I moved out to the island of Alameda last November. The nearest BART train is still only 2 miles away but it's nowhere near as convenient or close to things as living in Oakland was. Apart from Ben having to usually drive to work rather than bike to work, we don't really miss being that close to things. It's kind of nice to to be able to "go out" in Oakland and really appreciate as something fun and special. I also much prefer the whole "not being shot at," low crime rate aspect of Alameda and that we're less than a mile from the Bay and a fairly nice beach and bike trail. It's nice and quiet here at night and we live in an actual neighbourhood rather than some crappy apartment complex.
I guess I'm a bit biased due to growing up north of Green Bay and having to drive 20-120 miles to do anything socially entertaining, but living in a nice place where you feel comfortable and enjoy daily life is much more important than being conveniently located in the center of everything.
dontfeartheringo: Red-tailed hawks are sexually dimorphic, so the female is larger than the males are. Other than that, both sexes look alike. Awesome footage! I got attacked by one of those fuckers once while walking to the library on the campus of my former school.
EDIT: It also looks like the hawk that comes in to steal the squirrel is an immature hawk, since it seems to have the dark stripes mixed in with the red in its tail.
ERawk: Yes! I'm all for this plan of re-entering the worlds of stuff we used to do when we were younger. I'm planning on heading to the ice center tomorrow morning for the $5 lunchtime public skating session. Maybe I'll eventually join one of the clubs but for now, I think that I'll be fine skating with the sparse smattering of old people and business people on lunch hour.
I'm not sure what to wear anymore. When I was in skating, there was this school teacher who had mostly skated in Chicagoland when she was youger. She was a senior level skater, meaning she had tested to the level of most of the skaters that one sees on television, so she was still very good despite being in her late 30s. However, her skating wardrobe was very much stuck in 1984. She'd wear stuff like a sports bra and leggings, or one of those leotards with the legholes that went up to the waistline and have flourescent pink decorative belts. There was also this other adult skater who persisted in looking like a pink whale. I'm not sure where the fuck she found plus-sized petal pink ballet wear, but she was never short on chiffon and lyrca.

Indeed. Also, the consumerist.com tip was a good one as well.

My wife and I went driving around today, ate lunch and ran some errands.
As I was changing CD's the song 'High enough' by Damn Yankees was on the radio station.
I went to put in a new CD and she tells me to wait because 'I love this song' then she proceeded to jam out and sing along to it.
I thought she was joking so I started laughing and no, she was not kidding she loves the Damn Yankees song 'High enough'
Now I have been with this woman for a loooooong time and I have never once heard her listen to this song, mention this song or show any predilection towards horrible old fart hair rock music.
Yet here I am, sitting in my car watching her play air guitar to the Damn Yankees song 'High enough'
Once and awhile married life throws an odd pitch at you. Nine times out of ten you get in any situation and you know just what the pitch will be, then just when you think you've got this shit completely scoped out, out of nowhere some weird knuckleball she's never thrown before.

Found out my boss is going to let me play my drums in the warehouse after-hours. And she said I could store them there too. So, in addition to saving three-hundred dollars a month (which I don't have) for some sketchy jamspace, I can go in anytime Mon. to Sat. nights and all day Sundays. Kinda makes the dental hell and inconvenient repair bill for the van look pretty insignificant. Can I get a HELL YEAH?
