1082Tonex Cab
It weighs 25 lbs. It has a small footprint. It has tilt-back legs to point upwards towards your ears. It can accept any input, whether it's a modeler with or without an IR or cabism, or just a guitar amp. It has combo jacks for inputs and outputs. I can take midi signals and can be a midi hub. It has an aux in if you want some extra backing material. It has an output, to go directly to the sound board (because why mic it?). More importantly, it has a knob to adjust the EQ curve to have a more "amp in the room feel". It has 8 presets you can load with EQ settings, IRs, whatever, that can either use the software or the hardware to save and edit. It will remember the knob settings, so you don't have to worry about fiddling with the EQ, but you can adjust them anyway on the fly.
One thing that it doesn't have is stereo in. This does not concern me. For those who want stereo into front of house, this might be a dealbreaker, unless you get two.
Most importantly, however, is that it does produce good, usable sound. I am using Eminence IRs: a Wizard, a Red White and Blues, a Swamp Thing and a Governor. There's not a huge difference in the cab between these, they are more obvious in the software.
I haven't played with a band yet, but the "amp in the room" sound does what it claims to do. FRFRs can sound very flat and behind a screen, but dialing in the live/mic knob really does wipe that away. It states 700w peak, 350w RMS. This is class D, so I'm guessing it's more equivalent to something like 100-150w amp. Having played many tube amps between 50w and 100w, this feels mostly correct? I haven't pushed the volume too high, I'm afraid to do that. But this thing is LOUD, without speaker breakup. I'm getting the feeling that it will be plenty loud for a four-piece rock band. The output from my modeler is at 30% and the cab volume before it's too loud is at 25%.
I'm excited to play this thing with the band and see how it can keep up. Right now, I am feeling very positive about it and if my back had a thumb, it would be pointing up.

1083The EAE Mirror House
https://www.electronicaudioexperiments. ... rror-house
AKA the "Pile" pedal. Heather expressed interest in it after hearing some demo online. I bought one and it is, to me... terrible in every way. Warbly pitch shifting pedal with 3 modes that all sound really really bad. At best, it's a really terrible chorus pedal, and at worst it is a broken really terrible chorus pedal.
Anyone want to buy a Mirror House, let me know.

1084That looks cool. I've been experimenting with pitch shift and detune effects on the modeler (even with pedals before I got it) and I really love dialing them in for extra effect. I love a good detune over a chorus.Kniferide wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 9:39 am The EAE Mirror House

1085Seems like a review the EAE folks would actually use in promotional materials.Kniferide wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 9:39 am The EAE Mirror House

1086Well this one is going up on Reverb soon for probably around $200 + shipping. I'll do $190 flat to a FM.cakes wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 9:41 amThat looks cool. Re: Micro-reviews of Gear You Just Bought
1088not trying to be mean but the pedal just confounds me. Can't figure out why anyone wound want a pedal that does what it does, demos kinda make it sound cool, but I can't get anything out of it remotely useful. Maybe I'll try on on synths. Sometimes when I have a pedal that sucks for guitar I just decide its for synths.

1090I got this ridiculous thing with keyboard & guitar in mind:
Turns out it's best at making drum machines sound more interesting.
