This was originally going to be a private message to you, TMH, but I’m going to post it for all.

I don't really want to 'come down' on any side in this discussion as I honestly think the time I put into this board is kind of ridiculous and wasteful as it is (but hey, I don't have a teevee -- I don't even download The Daily Show anymore).

But, I do want to affirm you and your concern for the standards and dynamics of the board. I think the 'hey pal, chill out' kinds of responses you've gotten are, unsurprisingly, the product of people who care less about and have less invested in this board than you do. But that doesn't make their 'it's just an internet message board' dismissals true ipso facto.

This a discursive space where real people from a fairly diverse set of backgrounds and locales have congregated in language—yes, yes, willy-nilly disembodied anonymous words—not only to crack wise and talk nonsense, but to assemble as peers and get at some real things, some of which we might be unable to in the same way, off-line.

From personal health issues ranging from serious clinical depression to hearing loss, tobacco and cigarette addiction and dietary issues, etc, etc, users of this board have actually, genuinely contributed to the well-being and betterment of each other’s lives.

Through EA, many of the nine-to-fivers among us have surreptitiously been introduced to songs, stories, and glimpses of individuals and lives in the course of what may otherwise be dreary shifts devoid of laughter and spirit.

This board was an important place for shared memories and sentiment in the real, lived grieving process(es) of those who loved, knew, or merely knew of Michael Dahlquist.

The existence of this board has resulted in the meeting of two people who have since committed to spending their lives together, to getting married and (I presume) raising one another’s children as their own.

This is not so easily dismissed as 'internet retards being retarded.' No one familiar with TMH’s posts and my own would mistake us for peas of a pod - we've butt heads and dismissed one another on numerous occasions -- but I applaud his concern for the state of a community he has an emotional investment in. It is an admirable thing (And for some people this board is a serious crutch: Angriest_Dragon, god bless you, but what would you do if there were no EA forums? Your life would be radically different. Better or worse, I do not presume to know)

Yes, we are "internet retards." But we are also more than that.

Fuck. LAD got me all verklempt...........AGAIN!!!

Get your shit into a writing career. At least make up some "drama in real life" and send it to the Reader's Digest or something. Sheesh.

I added this part in an edit:

TMH isn't so terrible. He's just long-winded and uses run-on sentences like a motherfucker. It's like grading papers when you read it.........it's really hard to take seriously. The content isn't always totally off-base. It's just that it seems so rookie-core due to the writing style.

I've seen his posts on recording.org and he's not really accepted there by the moderator(s?) either. Whatever. It's the least of my worries.

It's really easy to ignore the stupid shit being posted here. Just scroll past it. To me, it's what makes this an interesting place to be.

Now, to paraphrase the fucking Maj.........Won't all of you faggots suck this cock? Please?
