'Can't Decide' could be my anthem sometimes. Right up to the closing lines as he's just panting "maybe tomorrow, maybe tomorrow".

I 'identify' with it.

That's a term I hate, but Black Flag is just about the only band to whom I could apply that phrase.

That's fine, just so long as you don't happen to "identify" with pure dogshit like Slip It In and Family Man. Good Lord, those albums are horrid.

Damaged and My War are great, though, and I'll defend 'em...though the 1982 demos are WAY better than My War is.

I was just skimming the thread to see if anyone mentioned this record. Quite a record of severe depression. It killed me in college thanks to the enablers at Rykodisc. More recently the 4 Men w/Beards vinyl has taken up the fight.

Big Star's 3rd should be on the same short list but drugs play into that game more than chemical imbalance.

I'm not much of a doom metal guy, but Khanate's Things Viral album is an excellent "going insane" or "gone insane" album.

It's slow, spacious, dark as shit, and downright creepy. I envision this album to be the soundtrack of an insane person talking to the loved one they just dumped in a field. Or someone dealing with their multiple personalities by screaming at themselves.

I thought at first it was forced, and the vocals a little too horror movie for my tastes. But I keep coming back.

The music is downright beautiful. Imagine Codeine doing orchestral, minor key, minimal metal, with an insane, nutcase just destroying his vocal chords like Bon Scott being buried alive.

Hellhammer's 'Triumph of Death' probably qualifies. At least in terms of trying to sound 'insane'...

Had to go through the thread to see if In the Aeroplane over the Sea was mentioned. I second.

MBV's Loveless was the soundtrack to my nervous breakdown.

I was attempting to listen to it to zone out or get some comfort from it, though...

Didn't work?

There's a Dirty Three song, I think it's "Sue's Last Ride". That's a song I could go insane to.
