That's quite a long time to wait for a name.

Mine is from Apocalypse Now. The Captain tells Chef to call in an airstrike if he doesn't come back, and says "the code is almighty." I just really liked the sound of that.

I briefly knew a couple who couldn't decide on a name for their second child. They argued right up until they were legally obliged to make a choice or the government would choose one for him (this was in Slovenia).

Eventually they compromised by giving the kid both names. Not so bad, you say? Well, the mother only calls the kid Rueben and the father only calls him George.

Confused the fuck out of me when I first met them all together.

I was given mine at 6.31pm on October 31st, 1983.

Well, technically I was named Nicolas, but everyone calls me Nico.

Adie is my surname.

Maybe my parents already had it picked out, but that is when I was finally adopted, so I didn't get it until then.

And my sock gorilla's. Dudley Dipsey. He rules.

I don't remember on my name. I make up a lot of names for things and they usually have four syllables and frequently end with an "oo" sound. Something about that rhythm is pleasing to me.

My username is my name. The wisdom of this will become apparent only should a prospective employer/spouse search for me on the internet. Oh well.

Regardless of my actual name, my mum calls me Fred. Apparently if my older sister had been born a boy, s/he would have been called 'Seth Tobias Chapman'. In the event, she is Claire Louise. If I've ever heard of a loss of nerve, this is where I've heard of it.

Funny.

My daughter (Beth) would have been called Seth if she had been a boy, and my son is called Tobias.

Tobias would have been called Seth had Seth not rhymed with Beth.

I guess it's not that funny.

My user name is based on my real name (Adam) and my previous user name (Champion Rabbit). I suppose I should/could have changed it to my real name, but those Nigerian internet fraudsters might have been buying small Pacific islands at this very moment on my credit.
