I think it's my civic duty to not bring any more people into a world that will have trouble feeding what's here already very soon. Your little brats can thank me for the room.

Why would you all of a sudden start wishing you had kids?

It wouldn't have to be sudden.

For that horrible, selfish, insane "Someone To Take Care Of Me When I Am Old" thing?

No.

Things, including offspring, don't always work out like you want them to.
Maybe you turn 60 and you wind up being a parent to your crazy, fucked-up kid's children, hence ruining the "retirement" you were so looking forward to by another dozen years of ugly plastic toys littering your house and yard, school meetings, soccer, etc.

Sure, and maybe you raise a wonderful caring human being who is one of your dearest friends.

I'm going to be 50 soon. I have no regrets. I don't plan on being a doddering old fool at 60, revolving my life around my offspring and grandkiddies.

The options are not limited to your doddering fool example and being childless. There's a world of reality in between.

I feel that way too sometimes.

I think it would be fun to name them. After that, I'd be over it. That's why I stick to cats.

Nice job editing that, but I saw what you wrote. Had second thoughts about dissing zom-zom? You're taking Marsup's "shank one of the top people" statement too seriously, plus you've been here too long to get respect for that kind of move.

Come on then, say what you think. I'm sure it's brilliant.

I think you should have kids. You definitely sound like you will regret it if you don't.

Zom-Zom, why are you such a huge ass to me? Did I ever insult you to begin with? How about you just mind your own business and shut the fuck up for a little while?

Oh, and the comment was, "It's obvious why you don't want to breed. It's because you're a complete dick and the thought of little Zom's running around must turn your stomach as much as it does ours."

And I may regret it if I do.

All I'm saying is that I'm decidedly undecided...which leads me to not have kids right now. I'm just afraid that when I do want kids, for good reason...not cynical shitty ones, that it will be too late. That's not a reason to have kids...it's a reason to post about my confusion on a meesage board.

Plus, after hanging with other people's kids, I find that they are often much cooler than 99% of the adults I know. That fact is aided by me not having to clean their feces, I know, but it's still true.

No reason to be dismissive and assume everyone who ponders it or has kids does so for the wrong reasons.

Waaah. Waaaaah.

If you don't like what I write, ignore it.

"Mind your own business"? This is an internet message board. If you don't like my posts, then don't post anything and I won't have dumb stuff to reply to. Why don't you shut up?

I think most people would welcome a lot of little Zoms running around.
They would be very cute, very nice.
