As a smoker, i'm not gonna start having a grumble about the ban, as the debate has been done to death up and down the country.
But, isn't drinking in pubs and clubs totally wierd now, aside from drinking establishments now reeking of their default smells - sweat, mouldy beer, off perfume/after shave - it just feels like a totally sanitised environment. And i don't mean that in a literal sense, just this sense of "you shouldn't be doing that". Sanitised in the Disney sense.

112Banning smoking from bars is ridiculous. It should be left to the management. If you're going to have a ban, why the hell ban it from all the bars? People still like to have a cigarette when they have a beer. I know I do.

You have your right to a titty-free bar just as I have my right to a splendid night in beautiful accordance with my fellow titty-lovers.
That's just fatuous. No-one ever got lung cancer from passive titties.

This is the main argument to ban smoking in bars. But it's not like anyone's forced into bartending. With every job you have to weigh the negatives against the positives. Highway constructions workers are inhaling much worse shit than cigarette smoke I would guess.
In principle I think it's bullshit that the government is telling private buisiness owners that they have no control over the issue. I think it's every buisiness owner's right to determine if their establishment is non-smoking or not. Personally, and as someone who likes to smoke, I don't really give a shit. I just don't think it's in line with free capitolism.

I don't see any reason why being exposed to an entirely avoidable carcinogen should be considered a 'negative' of a job. Cunts can go outside if they want to smoke. Going outside never killed anyone - at least not as much as smoking killled them.

I will kick the ass of any pussy bartender who bitches about smoke. It's akin to becoming a sound man and bitching about the music being too loud. You knew what you were in for, dipshit. It's the nature of the business. There's a million other jobs out there where you won't be breathing smoke. Go find one.

No one is supporting PM or RJ. We're supporting the right for people to smoke without some nosy prick telling us what we can or can't do.

119Hello Everybody,
Smoking seemed awesome for the many, many years that I did it. I quit a while ago (45 days or so). It is good to be a non-smoker. The smoke coming off a lit cigarette is, and will always remain, a delightful smell...
But Sweet Jesus is it nice not to be addicted to nicotine for the first time of my adult life. It is something of a revelation.
Smoking: Crap with a bigger Waffle Factor than it deserves.
I'd like to pass along some love to the PRF member who suggested Alan Carr to me. The book was a big help. Thanks.

I get that, and I'm not taking a position on that issue--indoor smoking offends my non-smoking sensibilities, and banning it offends my civil-libertarian sensibilities, but neither one ends up trumping the other for me. There were ballot issues for city- and statewide smoking bans in two recent elections here, and I honestly can't remember how I voted on either one, that's how much I care about it.
My point was that anyone calling themselves a good little anti-corporate progressive anarcho-socialist blah blah shouldn't be patting themselves on the back because hey, at least they didn't drive a Hummer to the BP to buy their Camels. If you gotta smoke, roll your own or, I dunno, maybe there's some "indie" brand out there. (I was gonna say American Spirits, but apparently they're owned by RJR now. And to clarify, by "you" I mean collectively, not Skronk.)
