I had a great time, and had fun every single day whether or not there was a band I liked playing at the time. There were so many good friends around to talk to that it was an awesome party that just happened to have terrific bands playing.

Uzeda was the only band on Saturday that I felt actually threatened to bring down the rain. God, they were amazing. And I'd never seen them before.

Other favorites: Killdozer, Arcwelder, Brick Layer Cake, Girls Against Boys.

A few things of note:

RE: Arcwelder - easily the best set of theirs I've ever seen, and I wish I could bottle the sincerity with which they performed. Very gracious invitees, and I'm glad the chance to play was extended to them, for they are a wonderful band. Totally worth getting up early and standing out in the rain.

The Monorchid set was a beautiful disaster, and I felt a little bummed that it happened to the band I was most excited to see, but I still enjoyed the hell out of it even if they never really had a chance for their set to get going. I don't know if anyone really has any personal beef with them, but I could sympathize with their frustration.

Brick Layer Cake threw down. So many of my friends hated it, and so many of them are wrong.

I met a bunch of you from here on the board, and y'all were very friendly. And of course, I saw familiar faces, too, and all the bands I expected to be great were, so there's no sense patting any extra backs. You know who you are.

Looking forward to seeing Shellac and Uzeda again tomorrow night.

I just saw pics of Scratch Acid. Mr Yow scares me a little bit. But I suppose he is a very good man. Anyone hooked up with him lately ?

I'm with you on this.
I saw an early show by them in a fire house in Baltimore County in 96 I think.
All I can really remember is Chris Thomson wearing a Puma track suit and them being really intense.

ARCWELDER

I feel bad for everyone who wasn't there to see them.

Although I was rocked by many bands (Uzeda, the Ex, Shellac never fail to deliver) I gotta say that my favorite set was probably the Didjits.

Rick Sims looked so freakin' good that I was immediately sorry I did not bring an extra pair of underwear to throw at him.

Besides looking stellar, his playing was fucking incredible. I had the best time, ignored the fact that my knees were swollen to the size of grapefruits and that I was in tremendous pain, and just smiled like an idiot through their whole set. They played pretty much everything I could have hoped for them to play (except "Headless", dammit) but that's a small omission considering I am going to be re-running those movies in my head, of Rick doing his rock star thing in that stylin' cowboy suit.

I met a shitload of cool people, and I have some pretty serious windburn on my face.

Actually getting to hang out friends from all over, meeting people I had previously only known via the internet, seeing so many great bands and just being there was incredible. I have no complaints. It was brilliant.

Fucking amazing three days.........Only watched several bands that I honestly didn't care for. Highlight of the weekend was buying a very warm reversable Shellac t-shirt from Todd Trainer on sunday and being able to tell him "Your a fucking amazing drummer".

Towards the end of this festival I really wish their was a gigantic "Thank you" card everyone could have sighned for Corey Rusk because everything over those 3 days was the most amazing experience of my life.

From my encounter with him that lasted a minute or two I got the impression of him being a complete dick head. I could be wrong though......
