Some video showed up of us doing Gary Numan.
Now there's incriminating evidence.

Of course the "hit" was filmed.

Good guess.
No, my friend Matt is playing his TB bass. My friend Cy is playing my TB guitar. My friend Mike is playing Polymoog and MiniMoog. I'm playing MiniMoog. Our buddy Nick is on drums. Josh #1 is on synth and Synare. Josh #2 is Gary.

Gary's guys didn't play Beans, but we felt like the symetry of the Minis and the symetry of the Beans would be in the right spirit of things. As in "coulda happened."

nice. Alex, your Gary Numan band was far better than my Joy Division cover band (Subdivision, also playing all Travis Beans, BTW..)

Here we are interspersed with actual JD footage, at 'Run For Cover 2" at the Warehouse Next Door in Washington, DC- 2003 perhaps? Our friend filming only managed to capture parts of each song, hence the glitchcore added in for extra-twitch effect, and the real footage of JD. I'm playing the drums quite poorly.. (not my first instrument)

I've also done, in my musical life covers of:

Neanderthal/Man Is The Bastard covers with Vockins. Opening up for the Dave Matthews Band circa 1992? even..
Minutemen: Paranoid Chant, Vietnam and Do You Want New Wave Or The Truth?
R.E.M.: Wolves, Lower
Dinosaur Jr.: In A Jar
Husker Du: Makes No Sense At All
Gang Of Four: I Found That Essence Rare

and many many Joy Division songs and maybe one New Order tune.

I was in a terrible punk covers band that never rehearsed or even booked a show. I was the drummer and the singer for some reason. I can't be bothered to remember the songs we played because we were shit. My terrible riot grrrl band covered 'Rebel Girl' and 'Her Jazz' but then again which self respecting riot grrrl band didn't?

My solo act has covered quite a few Beat Happening songs and any number of Silkworm songs. I probably played 'Miracle Mile' at most shows. Since I am always billed as The Beatles (don't ask) I learnt to play one Beatles song. It was 'Wild Honey Pie'. They were all thrilled.

Only a few covers that have been (thankfully) confined to the practice room:

Gap Band - Burn Rubber on Me
Adamski - Killer

an Elton Mothello song I can't remember the title of

"Victim Of Time," although that one didn't go over as well. As a new band, it's pretty convenient to pad out our set with covers.

At our next practice, I'm going to ask you and Richy what you think about replacing "Victim Of Time" with The Cows' "Hitting The Wall,"

Chris, how soon you forget about Racetrack and USS Horsewhip covering "Baba O'Reilly" in tandem? 2005 was awesome, dude.

In addition to "Baba O'Reilly," USS Horsewhip also covered:

Welcome To Hell (Venom - I still like playing this song. One member refused to play it live, along with over half the songs we'd written ourselves over the last four years.)

Ex-Lion Tamer (Wire - Learned specifically for a New Year's Eve show.)

Feel Like Makin' Love (Bad Company - we'd play the last chorus for 10+ minutes to drive everyone out of the room.)

Jumpin' Jack Flash (We had this weird idea about re-arranging it to sound like a Fugazi song. We only played it at our first two shows.)

Shit, I totally forgot. Meghan needs to post the video on myspace. That was probably the most fun I ever had playing music.

Dude, that was so 2004: The Salad Days.

Ex-Lion Tamer (Wire - Learned specifically for a New Year's Eve show.)

Which I sang backing vocals on live, if I remember correctly.
