People had been arguing with Bob for months - years even - and you brought nothing new to the argument - at all. You read a fucking book and instantly your world view changed and you became convinced that you are the prophet of all things 9/11.

It certainly doesn't seem like you read any of the numerous threads.

Although Rick new he always pissed off many people on the board I think it got to a point where he thought he was pissing off too many people (along with yourself twitchingly bumping threads dozens of times like a fucking maniac).
Specifically I imagine Mr Albini's outburst had bucketloads more to do with it than your PHDs worth of two day research.
And I also imagine he'll come back again in a while.

And yes - I think the stuffed wallet idea is a good one. That's what my trainer does in fact. He carries a falsey to throw on the ground if confronted.
And he's hard as nails.

Also there are these courses where you are taught about the mental aspects of confrontation. Not martial arts (though you should do that too) but psychology and all that.
I haven't done one of them courses but they sound pretty intense and I plan on doing so soon. I imagine there'll be someone doing it in most of your big Yanky cities.

Coincidentally, here in sunny England, where we all hold hands and dance in the fields, I called the police last night. I was woken up at 1am by my girlfriend who'd heard a girl screaming; I looked out the window and there was a guy on the floor getting two shades of shit kicked out of him by another guy, whilst some girl pleaded with him to stop.

Now, I don't know what was going on - hell, maybe this guy even deserved it or whatever, maybe it was justified, etc, etc. I just know that I don't think twice about calling the police in this situation, because I think it's a good idea that a fight like this gets broken up before someone ends up seriously hurt/dead, and that's what the police are there for.

Anyway, you must be a prize numpty if you think carrying a knife around with you, for 'protection' or otherwise, is a good idea.

The problem with discussions such as this is that talk about violence and retribution (particularly if the discussion is predominantly between young men) usually drifts quickly into borderline, faux-somber wank-fantasy.

Nerbly Bear. If you are seriously interested in street-fighting, or self-defense or whatever, the obvious course of action would be to hot-foot it down to your local Police station and ask them to point you in the direction of a reputable self-defense class.

No further bickering about knives/candlesticks/maglites/magic wands required.

Didn't go to Tai Chi school, but have the identical philosophy. 'Specially the last one. I'm quite happy to run away like a pussy, any time.

The school I go to, despite being a hard as nails MMA type place, also has this philosophy.

In my experience really hard people generally tend not to pick fights.
They're usually quite nice folks who don't feel they have anything to prove.
