I know this is not right. It's ok though - I'm on medicine.

I'm kinda with you...except I find myself fantasizing about all the bad things I could do to the uppity indie-girls at the show.

Helps as so many bands are fucking dull these days.

I don't need medicine.

I can't believe there is a jazz bagpiper named Rufus Harley and I own one of his albums.

I just realized we are both born and bred New Yorkers who just declared our love for countryish things. Yeah, I'm a suburban raised girl, but still...

is that really supposed to happen?

I too am a sucker for lap steel guitars. I'm not born and bred NY - but I'm born and bred a long long way from anything country. I've spend the last 2 weeks looking at lap steels to buy, wondering if my girlfriend will kick me out if I buy another instrument...

I just don't see how lap steel is a guilty pleasure. They do a lot to fill out the sound on a lot of records and make them more textural and lush.

Who nay-sez this?

Not so much a guilty pleasure. I just don't think it's very RAWK to want to sit down and play a quiet lush textural instrument. It's probabably just that I've never really shown any interest in country music. But the last couple of years I've started to appreciate it more - mainly becuase of the beautifully understated playing... again not a very rock thing to like.

i like lapsteels but not that much. i don't see myself playing one.
on the other hand, I LOVE trumpets and i think it's great how they sound in a pop/rock context (think 60's and chamber pop). i love all brass instruments, escept the saxophone, for some unknown reason.

Mine's "Washing Machine" and I ain't even close to joking.

You are actually spot-on. That is Sonic Youth's best album. It's a little-known fact, but there you are.

it has been a while but this is most likely my favourite album of theirs as well.

Half the time I look on Pitchfork, which is maybe once every six weeks or so, I don't give a shit about any of the artists in their main page feature articles.

I still care about what Stephen Malkmus, Bob Mould and Robert Pollard are doing.

Am I the only person in the universe who thinks the novelty of 36,514-piece bands with random neo-old-weird non-rock instrumentation wore off years ago?

I get the same enjoyment from secretly rocking out to Boston's "Hitch A Ride" as I do from Big Star's first two records.

99% of indie rock bands that have come out in the past five years have bored the fuck out of me.
