So you're saying you needed the flashy, high-performance version, stumpy?

Nah, our other car is an Escort wagon. This one just happened to be up for sale by a mechanic/MMA fighting guy that I know for very cheap. Believe me, I would have gone with the Escort Emasculator if I had the choice. The ZX2 isn't quite as good on gas what with the DOHC and shit.

I don't know about NYC, but around here (second largest bicycle-commuting city in the US) recumbents seem to be the realm of fat, punytailed grayhairs, most likely the people you describe making fun of the silly bikes.

And I'm fine with this crowd, they're comfortable having their fat-rolls caressed by lycra in public as they pedal their be-flagged contraptions. Right on man.

BMW Z3 M Coupe. I'm saving up for an '01-'02, of which there were 690 built for N. America.

That pic doesn't do those cars justice. I really like those. I was thinking about getting one when I got my STi, but I liked the STi for the all wheel drive and back seat. They look good in Estoril Blue.

Perhaps I didn't want to advertise it too much when there are so few with the S54 engine.

You made the practical choice. Were you looking at the Z3 or the Z3 M? I used to buy cars with the understanding that I could fit my guitar cabinet in them. Recently I realized I mostly just carry girlfriends or guitars. Screw some back seats. This is nimble, fast, odd looking and has a hatch! (a little practicality). I suppose I could get a Honda Fit, but I hope I don't.

You've gotta get an ///M if you're buying a BMW. Anything less kinda defeats the purpose of buying a BMW.

The Fit would be cheaper to own in the long run, but it wouldn't be any fun to drive. If you can't use the throttle to kick the back end of a car out around corners, then it's not gonna be fun to drive. Get the Z3 M. I can just tell those things are gonna be worth a ton of money some day.

I have an '02 330i, so yeah, you're preaching to the choir re: the M. The fuel price surge and green thinking has just pushed me to make better pals with public transpo, and then drive when it counts. I only mentioned the Fit as it's 'cute', hauls stuff, and gets good mpg. Only way I'd consider is if my next job has a mega commute. Not for comparison with the M Coupe.

Top Gear viewer? that Apollo is ugly as sin. However, I would Pagoni Zonda with no hesitation.
