Does a drummer count as gear? I need one of them. I can find a bass player and another guitar player just about anywhere.

That might be neat for a few things, but right now I've got this itch to perform in a band that needs scratching. I need to get out and meet people and it's like the only way I can think of at this point. Also I have a lot of pent-up frustration that needs an outlet.

I asked Joe Gore on FB how they got that unison guitar sound on PJ Harvey s To Bring You My Love, and apparently it s just a regular set of guitar strings all tuned to the nearest A, spanning three octaves. It would rule to use a double neck with one neck in the unison tuning and another in standard. I can t see myself putting one together but it seems like the sort of thing you could base a whole band around.

Yeah! Joe said something about the Gary Glitter connection as well. In 2019 it is probably best remembered as the PJ Harvey tuning!

That unison tuning sounds similar to the ostrich tuning that Lou Reed talked about. I did this once, tuning every string to D. It was really fun to play that way, but, like you said, without a whole idea/sound/approach based around it, it was hard to find an application. I saw somewhere (probably here?), that on the first Gary Gitter album his producer had no idea how to play guitar, so he tuned all the strings to the same note and played it with a slide. There's probably more to that story...but it's a great sound.Anyway, I've always liked that sound and intended to go back to it eventually. To Bring You My Love is certainly an incredible record and the guitar playing really stands out all over it.

I can't vouch for the quality of the music but we've made 3 albums and a bunch of singles with 2 guitars tuned to 3 octaves of D:http://kogumaza.bandcamp.com

Just sold a 2x12 combo I built a while ago (the Orange OR80 clone) and now there's a 2x12 combo sized hole in my room and the gear itch is festering. Need to build something cool to replace it....not sure what though...

Need to build something cool to replace it....not sure what though...Go 1x12" and build a Brown Deluxe. But that speaks to my own current personal interests. If you want something a little more esoteric, I really, really liked the 5G9 Tremolux I had and had to sell when my car got stolen. The larger cab is absolutely part of the sound.
