Anyone near Racine, Wisconsin?

20 Guitar lot - probably a lot of detritus here but I kind of wish I was close by to maybe donate it to a school or something?

Too bad it's the skinny-horn one. Those just never looked right to me. They did make worse shapes that that, though. The price is right!

Agree. The more P-bass looking one is where it's at. These sound awesome though. Love the series parallel switch.

I had an XL-8 for years and sold it because it wasnt being used much and I still kick myself for that decision. Very pointy, such wow.

That's 8-string is the kind of instrument you build a whole band around!

I've got a The Duke. None more steinberger. Actually not really, it's way more its own thing and doesn't share much similarity beyond the rough headless deal. Mostly it's a huge benefit that it uses standard strings instead of those double-ball bastards.

Kinda love/hate it. It's short-scale for good/ill. There were two models, mine is the "deluxe" I guess has a "better" pickup and bridge. But that pickup kinda blows - better for finger players I reckon because its position, so I had a P-pickup added closer to the neck and it sounds a lot more normal but still kinda fonky.

I still have an issue w/ buzz on the E-string of mine that I've not been able to work out. The good/bad of these aluminum neck Kramers is that in spite of the fact that they are not SUPPOSED to need neck adjustments, they frequently do. They're a little lacking in the long-term strength of the neck and without a truss rod...well...not a whole lot that can be done that I am aware of. Many of them end up bowing from what I've read - especially with the extra tension on those 8-stringers. Something to keep in mind if considering purchasing one.

For anyone wanting this in a cheap alternative pedal: The Ultimate Octave is a very slightly tweaked Foxx Tone Machine. The creator of Foxx is now the head of Danelectro. The super cheap and totally bad ass Danelectro French Toast is the same circuit as the Tone Machine. That Fulltone one is bulletproof though.
This thing is great. I had one years ago and regret selling it. I was gonna re-buy it for this but I think I'll rely too much on the octave on/off switch. If I end up not using it much, I'll probably just switch back to this little guy! I also found the original Foxx Tone Machine to be a little too harsh and spiky. Something about the Fulltone sounded smoother to my ears.
There's one of these Ultimate Octaves on Chicago's Facebook marketplace right now for $100 (a steal) if anyone is looking for one.
