After 20 years of wrong, I was disappointed to find that New Order were not talking about "an icy and shallow bay" on "Blue Monday". In my defence the "I see a ship in the harbour" line that precedes it did tee this up for me.

On Nick Cave's "The Witness Song", even though the lyric sheet says different, I'm sure he sings "A winter fuck will pick me up". Well it would, wouldn't it? It's supposed to be "A winter fog moved quickly on", but that's just not what he's singing.

I always thought that the first lyric of Rock The Casbah by The Clash was...

"Well you can't control the boogie man"

and I still am not sure what the real lyrics are.

When I first heard Steady As She Goes by Shellac I though it said:

"Steady as she goes, off with her head..." and then "I feel like I'm Greg Ginn"

Weirdly, everytime I listen to the first Ramones album I hear:

I just heard Smashing Pumpkins "Where Boys Fear To Tread" and remembered always mistaking the lyrics:

as:

Satanic forces are heaven sent

Add Nirvana's "Beeswax" where I still hear:

I got my doodie spayed.

But I don't think anyone can get that right.
