This is why I'm hoping they don't get mainstaged. Please, tuck 'em away in some back alley after the sun goes down/the shirtless meathead contingent who showed up for RATM have passed out.
They may freak out and put them in the Boiler Room... which would'nt be a bad thing.

Mirrors has not aged well. It came out, what, in May and I've laready gone from liking it all right to totally fucking hating it.
It's just too whimsical.

I read about these guys months ago, but only recently checked them out. I'm a fan now. I guess I steered away because of the hype and the praise, but I'm glad I listened to their EPs and Mirrored. I'm blown away.
The vocals are interesting, "whimsy" if you like, but everything fits like a glove. Stanier is an incredible drummer. Helmet's always been so-so in my book, but he's where he really shines. I see the Don Cab in them but I like Battles even more. They've got a personality coming through the music Don Cab lacked.

It was Luke... after the fall of the Empire, what else did he have to do? Nothing, that's what. He had a dead father and a crush on his sister. Setting up an outdoor festival in Australia, combined with an interest in live mixing seemed like a logical choice.
Here's one of the bands for next years Big Day Out.

Oh, so he took his dad's rebreather/vocal Jamesearlizer and reverse-engineered it into a mixer? Crafty.

Well he was a Jedi... they have skillz.

I think Battles are a good to great live band.
The records, I like some of it, but mostly I find them lacking in substance.
I have no idea about the last one, or what they are up to now (except for the sweaters).
Go see 'em, Sebastian!

Yes, Sebastian. In March, they put on the best show I've seen this year. I highly recommend it.
