best record ever of all time and you know it!
122he's been mentioned a couple of times in this thread already, but...
for years, i thought the buried car was a crashed rocketship, on the beach.
my first memory, probably my father putting on these monster akai headphones on my ears when i was about three*, hearing this album and looking at this rocketship. but this is no sentimentality here. same album still knocks me on my ass. i don't know where to begin.
know what, it's 4.30 in the morning, i'm more than likely drunk and i think i'll just go put it on now, real loud.
*an avatar someone here has?

Given how we're all supposed to be attracted to this board by similar musical tastes and how I've always considered you to be men and women of good taste.....I'm absolutely floored by how much I hate nearly every album in this thread.
My dear ginandtacos, I stand 180 degrees from your point of view! When more than 5 of my favorite records of all time are mentioned in the same thread, by people who are regulars on this board but are still essentially STRANGERS, then I feel a lot more confident in humanity than I did before I read it.
A favorite album is not just a collection of songs and cover art- it's a snapshot of your life. I'm pretty stoked just knowing it was shared.
My all time fav?
Miles Davis Quintet- E.S.P.,
because I always return to it.

127That would be "For Samuel Beckett" by Morton Feldman.

130I just can't pick one.
So, in no particular order:
XTC's Skyarking
Gang of Four - Entertainment!
The Church - Heyday
The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society (Arthur, Or The Decline and Fall of the British Empire is a very close second)
Joni Mitchell - Court and Spark
I do love some loud, screamy music, although it's not represented here. If pressed, these would be the 5 I'd take if I had to go to the fabled desert island.
I have no idea how I'd make it without the Fall, or Kraftwerk though.
