God, I know your stuck here for school, so I hate to tell you that it gets worse by the day, Mandroid!
I suggest throwing away your calender and begging to live in some kind of Zen daze. It takes the pain away a little bit.
Good luck!
I'm actually
not stuck here for school. I did want to eventually finish my ecology degree here, after I get residency, but school was not my reason for coming here.
It's not the setting that bothers me. I love the actual geography of the state and the architecture and how California looks. The people, though... How most of them have managed the journey from the womb to a paying job is beyond me.
I was walking down Piedmont a few weeks ago, smoking a cigarette. I noticed a pregnant lady walking toward me, so to be polite I put the cigarette in the hand furthest from her and didn't take a drag off of it until she had passed. She actually USED HER SWEATSHIRT AS A GAS MASK while passing me. This overweight pregnant woman, walking in a city filled with toxins had to make a point about how awful and harmful her 3 seconds of exposure to my burning cigarette 5 feet away from her was to her unborn child.
At the summer camp that I was just working at, several of the $2K/week campers expressed disgust when we asked them to save their water bottles and refill them, saying, "I can't drink tap water."
There is more, but it hurts too much to think about it.
My ex- from Wisconsin (who now lives near San Jose) warned me that I would never fit in here because of my slightly redneck, Wisconsinite/Idahoan roots. I should have listened to him.
