Could you possibly expand on this? I'm genuinely interested in your view on what punk rock was trying to destroy. I have my own ideas, but I'll bet that your version is a hell of lot more articulate than mine.
I'm but a mere douchebag, but I thought punk rock was trying to destroy the bloated, grandiose, overproduced, "progressive" music of bands like Yes, Jethro Tull, Fleetwood Mac, etc.
Cocorosie sounds like they just lazily make shit up. It's the opposite of those overly complex bands that the original punkers wanted to destroy.

I'd say the exact same thing about that last Joanna Newsom record

I would never make fun of Corey for his tastes. One thing is for sure: Corey is totally genuine about what he likes and what his company puts out. If he's involved in a record it's because he is genuinely vouching for it.
I haven't always agreed with his tastes, but they are genuine, and nobody should concern himself with trying to discover ulterior motives behind what T&G does. He's involved with bands he likes, and that's it.

I wish I could have seen all of your faces when you were forced to see Cocorosie live at the T&G anniversary show.
This music seems to be so provocative that one might regard it as an art form similar to punk.
John Peel used to say that if he doesn´t like sth, then it doesn´t necessarily mean it´s bad, but that he simply hasn´t got it yet.
Maybe it´s the same thing with Cocorosie.
Nah, it´s not. Cocorosie is the dumbest shit I have ever heard...

It's about as provocative as General Hospital.

Everyone I knew walked about as far away from that stage as you could. I heard some vocals through the wind every now and then that sounded like Catwoman from the old Batman TV show, but that was about it.
I seem to clearly remember it being packed and everyone loudly clapping and cheering

Why?
I think they all fit together perfectly. Along with the Raincoats and Talulah Gosh and Björk and M.I.A. and and and...
In Germany we call this "Hühnerkacke" which can be translated into "chicken turd"...
