Wasn't some people's point that it isn't necessarily the music, but the enthusiasm/inspiration? Some people listen to music for more than just the melody...

Every time I've watched this band - due exclusively to the raging debate over their quality - I've not been able to stop myself from laughing. And I don't know exactly why. Because I don't want to laugh at them - they're not arrogant, they're not dicks, they're just doing it because they want to. Their enthusiasm is infectious. And it's obvious they truly love what they're doing. I don't want to laugh at them in a mean way, because that's degrading, and I don't feel they deserve it (unlike, say, Teenage Jesus and the Jerks). I don't think I'm laughing at them meanly, and I don't think I'm being patronizing. All I know is that whenever I see them, I just start going into hysterics.

I don't think anyone would deny that Complete, musically, is something like Black Sabbath and Lynyrd Skynyrd getting battered with their own instruments. The thing is, the songs' lyrics are happy. This is goodtime Southern rock after you've inflicted massive and permanent brain damage from inhalant abuse.

So, salut to Complete, for making heartfelt and hilarious music.

I talked about their enthusiasm etc., but that is secondary for me.

Mainly, I just like the music--the way they play it, the way it sounds, and the music itself. I like the lyrics and the notes.

I am not putting anyone on, and I am not high.

Wishbone Ash...I think it's totally reasonable not to like Complete's music. It's fucked-up music. But let's not pretend it's not fucked up.

Rick Reuben, in the Shakespeare book thread, sort of wrote:I like people who fit molds. I can't actually conceive of a person enjoying Complete, because everyone inside the mold does not like Complete. So, rather than accept that tmidgett has formed his opinion from experience, I have to rage on about how tmidgett 'hasn't thought about Complete enough' to have a valid opinion.

I think tmidgett just likes Complete. Like, completely.

Yeah... if he didn't seem like a superdong, I would like to contact him about the possibility of getting this VHS converted to DVD - because I would really love to have this set in better-than-YouTube quality.

Or maybe a better copy exists somewhere? One can only dream(-ing).
