It's three notes, so I'm not sure it qualifies, but every time I start up Spacemen 3's Perfect Prescription I expect the bagpipes from Long Way to the Top to kick in.

Idk if it's necessarily the 'riffs' that sound alike..but to me, Galaxie 500's song "Oblivious" sounds similar to The Cure's "M" off Seventeen Seconds Section 25's "Melt Close" sounds like "United" by Throbbing Gristle.and I also think Section 25's "The Wheel" sounds sort of like TG's "The World is a War Film".

also - the second song on Psychocandy sounds a lot like Joy Division's 'Interzone'.. I hear a lot of JD in Jesus and Mary Chain.. and the bassline in the New Order song 'Procession' reminds me of the bass in Throbbing Gristle''s 'Don't Do What You're Told, Do What You Think'.
