I was fucking mistaken.

I'm not sure I have ever seen a movie that included a shot of the girl reclining against her windshield, looking at the sky.

Total not crap. All the best points about it have already been made here. At the risk of sounding lame, this really is the kind of movie I wish I could have seen at 16, it would have been my favorite movie. I think some people here may not realize the rarity of a female character like Juno, particularly in a mainstream film.

And hebjam, it's interesting you say that, there was a recent Bitch article agreeing with you that superbad was better, and how it would be great if there were more funny films about smart teenage girl nerds trying to get laid/enjoy their teenagehood. Track it down, I think it was in the issue before the current one.

I understand the desire to champion this movie based on its strong cast and laudable intent (to feature an intelligent, resourceful teenage girl's perspective). Too bad I found it almost impossible to focus on these aspects due to the relentlessly distracting cleverness of the script. Everything about it felt contrived, from that insufferable first scene (most forced dialogue ever?) down to the last precious shot.

Crap.

A friend saw this recently and told me that Dario Argento and The Melvins, as well as The Stooges, are "namechecked" in this Juno.

I have heard enough.

I haven't seen anything of it and I'm considering keeping it that way.

Cra.................

I would probably watch Gilmore Girls more often if there was the occasional "Hey, that reminds me of the time i guest-starred on the A Team" line that led into a quick flash-back with, like, Rory handing Mr. T some drugged milk so he'd get on a damn plane.

Oh, shit, someone should start a "popular tv shows mash-up" thread. Then again, maybe someone shouldn't. Hmm.

Shit man, that could be a good thread.
I'd rather see Newhart replace Bill Cosby on The Cosby Show.

I thought it was ok. Dialogue was painfully forced for the first 15 minutes or so.. after that it didn't seem as obnoxious. Of course my wife loved it, I'm sure I'll never take the time to watch it again.
