They had a fuck ton of food down there but I got out pretty quick. I didn't want to see any of the Neurosis guys eating pizza or hitting on metal chicks. I just ran upstairs and assumed they were in the basement of the temple in robes meditating around a dead goat as it bled out.

Except for Roeder. He was getting his picture taken for the magazine with Max. Luckily his persona has already been ruined for me by the forum.

Mastodon, actually. Max's son introduced him to Mastodon and then he got them on Conan. He said he has seen them every time they have been moderately close to NYC in the last two years.

Did I notice Scott screw up a bit starting at around 2:52? He thinks he's going into the next part of the song and then looks back at bomberz, who's still playing the previous part, and he gets a bit of an "oops" look. Not that it matters, Neurosis could smash me over the head with their "mistakes" and I'd be happy.

Before you ride that high horse to Ian MacKaye's house and have a circle jerk in the middle of a peace sign, let me clarify that I'm not talking about moshing or karate bullshit, or whatever that skinhead was pulling. I meant I started at the back of the crowd and fucking pushed straight through the crowd until I was right up front past the pit. There's no other way to do it, and everyone's pushing each other anyway.

Slam-dancing died with punk, and moshing is for closet homos. I'm glad you didn't have to "destroy" me though, as I'm an old man and you're a young punk.

Whatever man, I have spent years of my life in crowds in front of stages, and there's nobody who stays in one damn spot through more than one band. It's inevitable that you go piss and smoke and drink, and if you want to get back nto the fray you have to push. Never, ever, has some dude tapped me on the shoulder and said "excuse me sir, can I possibly slip by you as I'd like to participate in some stage-front glomming." People just shove into me, usually with some compassion but always determinedly. That's how a crowd works. Those who don't want to get rubbed up against by sweaty metalheads stand at the side, and people who don't have a stick up their ass just get into it. Plus there was no way I was just going to enjoy Neurosis from just one vantage point, their sound is too massive. I went all around the joint to get every perspective, to hear what everyone was hearing, from the pit to the rafters. When they started playing "The Doorway," I realized it would be their last song so I ran downstairs and the rest you know.

I did see a broken high-heel shoe on the floor afterwards; did I step on your toe or something?
