Tory Green Paper: " Work For Welfare"

I've not even uttered anything on this matter. So I would find it hard to lie about it.

Rick Reuben wrote:Keep ducking the main question: why can't people on welfare be examined? They asked for the goddamn welfare! They entered the system of their own free will. Is your government handing out business licenses or driving licenses without tests?

Your crazy argument is: leave the cheaters alone because we'll offend the good folks by looking for the cheaters. WTF kind of reasoning is that?

People who claim benefits are examined. If they claim Incapacity Benefit they are medically assessed. If they claim Jobseekers Allowance they are means-tested and made to follow Jobseekers Agreements. &c &c

Again, why are you turning this into a discussion about benefit cheats when we are talking about changes to the welfare system?

People who are ill or disabled choose to be ill or disabled?

People who are unemployed choose to be unemployed?

People choose to be widowed?

People choose to be old aged?

People choose to be poor?

Yup, you get repeatedly and rigourously examined and reviewed. And seems to have got much harder in recent years. Also, if you are claiming Housing Benefit they'll even come to you house and check your bedroom, to see that you aren't cheating the housing, or sharing your room.

You then usually don't get paid any housing for up 6 months (18 months on one occasion). So you end up using you're income support as rent whilst you go hungry. I used to regularly go to bed without eating when I was on benefits.

Most people seem to be saying, it was tough before, and it's about to get tougher for people reliant on the system. A lot more people are about to 'willingly enter' into this system as unemployment is expected to reach about 2 Million with the economic downturn. This is perhaps the impetus behind the rolling out of new measures.

Count on the 'libertarians'/dullards of the board to get behind a repressive and authoritarian system.

What a ridiculous thing to say. Let's paint everyone with a broad brush, huh?

Oh go finger fuck your Jap's-eye, no one cares what you have to say dicksplash.

You're a hilarious twat.

I have one - didn't you say a while back that you consciously chose not to work and go on the dole?

I didn't. I said I conciously chose not to work for shitty companies and then in turn I chose not to work for anyone and to work for myself because I've got worries about being encouraged to be in debt all the time as though it is normal.
I could write an essay on how absurd our benefits system is though. It's a lot more complex than anyone has touched on in these threads and everyone, especially some of our non-UK PRFers, should add 'hypothetically' or 'apparently' to the end of their posts such is their position of detachment from the subject.
