I remember, a couple of years before I was drinking age, I was sitting in a bar I'd snuck into- not even to drink, but to see a rock show I otherwise would not have been able to see due to my underage- while this thickly built. equally thick witted knuckledragging goon talked about how he liked being a bouncer, went on and on about "the brotherhood of the bouncer" and what they did to people who would dare fuck with the bouncer and its brotherhood.

I'm sure many doormen, given the opportunity to abuse the power of being a doorman, probably would. And I know for a fact it's no fun, and pretty humiliating, being cut off or denied entrance to your watering hole of choice by some burly, big bad ass bouncer.

However, I'm sure to many doormen, it's just a job, and a job that somebody has to do. They are hired by bar owners to protect their investment, to keep them from getting fined or having their license pulled because they've overserved someone.

So, if you get cut off, do you blame the doorman or the bar owner? I mean, hey, maybe the bar owner was hanging out with you a few minutes earlier- shook your hand, hugged you even, bought you a shot and contributed to your condition...

...and so then, in a situation like that, hell...there's no way that guy's ever gonna cut you off. So you drive home, pass out at the wheel, and plow into an overpass. Of course, it doesn't kill you, it only paralyzes you for the rest of your life. Medical bills up the ass, and of course you can't work to pay them off...

So yeah...thanks for the wishing of luck with all the shrugging and whatevers. I find it works alright. I mean, if some of you would like to give us a greater understanding of the concept of relativism then by all means...but, obviously, the last word means so much to some people that, as far as I'm concerned, they're welcome to it.

Thanks to the cop, he's rolling home (aided by a cop I might add).

The best part is all the other hero cops, they all look the other way and ignore it.

Tell me, which ones are the good ones? I mean, there's a bunch there... by what I've read some of those cops have to be good and decent people, no? They aren't all bad, right?

That knee-slapper was told to me by a Chicago cop while he was "hanging out" at the cab garage, holding court and entertaining all the cabbies with his action-packed stories of derring-do.

That guy gave me some real insight into many aspects of life in Chicago, but Chicago cops in particular.

I have known a few cool cops all of which were small town cops.
I do agree that Chicago cops are a rear breed of cunt though.
I blame it on the fact that the position of police officer here is more of an inherented position ("my dad and gramps were cops, can I have a job?") and has nothing to do with skill or qualification.

Part of my job is that I have to take paperwork over to the customs office at ORD and get it stamped.
You think Chicago cops are pricks? Try having to deal with these assholes 3 times a day. Jesus, what fucking douchebags. Every one of them.
I made the mistake of complaining to my boss about what a prick one was to me yesterday and my well meaning but naive boss calls over there and complains to the sergeant about this one officer.
Now I go in and this officer makes things as difficult as humanly possible for me while talking shit to me the whole time, a full 5 times more of an asshole to me than what I originally complained about. The dude is obviously really dumb and a little off in the head, I am actually worried he's gonna either follow me outside and shoot me or plant drugs or something on me.

This is in stark contrast to my world view from my younger years, but my last 3 or 4 experiences with the cops have been very positive.
