I still care about what Stephen Malkmus, Bob Mould and Robert Pollard are doing.

Am I the only person in the universe who thinks the novelty of 36,514-piece bands with random neo-old-weird non-rock instrumentation wore off years ago?

I get the same enjoyment from secretly rocking out to Boston's "Hitch A Ride" as I do from Big Star's first two records.

99% of indie rock bands that have come out in the past five years have bored the fuck out of me.

agreed.
so yeah, i'm a pussy.

- i love modern swedish pop music

- i don't mind itunes, and actually find it easy to use

- i abhor dealing with dickhead club owners, and thus i never play out anymore

- i hate the cleveland music scene, who raves about all these pop bands that suck a huge amount of balls but still get attention b/c no matter how much they suck they'll still be better than the shit metal that town endured for the last six years

- the next time i'm feeling depressed i'll look for this thread straightaway

thanks! and, sorry!

I avoid fat chicks because of my Oedipal guilt complex, and I drink to stifle my Yin attributes and amplify my Yang to overcompensate for being the only child of a single mother.

Oh wait, this was supposed to be about indie rock? I was thinking of emo.

-I still read Questionable Content, even with the knowledge that it's Pitchfork indie rock's insipid version of Friends, although their music forums are a good source of discussion/new music.
-From time to time, I listen to and enjoy Belle and Sebastian. There, I fucking said it.
-I listen to Jawbox's For Your Own Special Sweetheart a lot more than Fugazi these days.
-I resent the fact that my friend/bandmate, him being indie-pop/Mars-Volta prog-head, has written off most, if not all punk rock and subgenres thereof as being crap, though this does not stop us from being friends and making music together.
-I'm a sucker for the phrase "angular guitars".
-Past Boards of Canada and Kraftwerk, I couldn't be bothered to listen to any electronica.

Wood Goblin wrote:Some of these confessions could use a hell of a lot more guts. Saying you find most indie rock boring is about as gutsy as admitting that you don't care for Hootie and the Blowfish.

I want to see someone confess that he likes the Dave Matthews Band. Now *that* is a confession.

Of course, I won't be the one to confess that, because the Dave Matthews Band sucks.

Cupcake!

If some PRF-ers admit to being too toasted to remember the Slint show they saw in Louisville (which is an intractable offense), then you can confess almost anything.

It's OK. There is no judging in this thread.
