chris jury wrote:compressed distortion and feedback-no high-gain tinny stuffThese two things tend to go together so you're kind of looking for a blue orange. chris jury wrote:Honestly looking at the 90's Boss Power Driver. But could use some good suggestions. Also consider the Boss Metal Core. It's awful and great at the same time. Better on bass than guitar IMO. Lots of lows.

I'm after a pedal. Specifically a pedal that can be an instant storm of compressed distortion and feedback-no high-gain tinny stuff, but hairy and aggressive. Honestly looking at the 90's Boss Power Driver. But could use some good suggestions.

Need to build something cool to replace it....not sure what though...Go 1x12" and build a Brown Deluxe. But that speaks to my own current personal interests. If you want something a little more esoteric, I really, really liked the 5G9 Tremolux I had and had to sell when my car got stolen. The larger cab is absolutely part of the sound. Both would be cool. I think i'm getting a donor combo that would be ripe for one of those. I'd really like to build a Brown Pro, Super, etc and make that harmonic vibrato just for something different.

I have a Power Driver up for sale locally with no takers. I've used it inline with other stuff for hairy-ness. Can send it yr way for not a lot if better suggestions don't come thru...edit: sold it

Feedback squeal at on this song at 1:48 is me pushing the strings of my P-Bass into the pickups. While everyone's personal take on "High-Gain Tinny" versus "Hairy And Aggressive" is going to be their own, you might want to look at the Boss Xtortion if you come across one second hand. Might be too "High-Gain Tinny", but you never know.

I sold it because I got a lot more usage out of my blonde 6G6-B Bassman's normal channel though. Man, I wish I still had that Bassman. If you could figure out a way to get the vibrato channel of the Pro/Super/Bandmaster and the Normal channel of the 6G6-B you'd really have something...

I wonder how much of it was the output transformer...
