Man.....10 lug and whatever depth you like for $209 is kinda awesome. I paid $245 for an Acrolite a few months ago and I might not have done it had I known about these.
The sub-$250 Acrolite is becoming kind of a rare thing unless it's super beat up. But yeah the Supralite (and other brands make similar heavy Chinese steel drums such as the Pearl Sensitones) will certainly do the job.

I will say I think the lightweight aluminum Acrolite (and maybe the 8 vs 10 lugs) sounds a little more full and resonant all else being equal. I find myself fighting with treble-y overtones of the SL more than other snares but a fauxskin head or a little tape will balance it out. I like it best for dry but cutting stuff (which lately means fast bop and grindcore, and the almost non-existent overlap of those two..)

Same shell as the Acrolite, just without the bead, and different hardware. Sounds almost identical to the Acro and can often be found for even cheaper.
Famously the snare played by Bill Ward at the Black Sabbath in Paris show.

I don't know, I feel like the price of Acrolites has actually gone down in the last few years. I'm seeing lots of $200 - $250-ish acrolites around me on fb marketplace.

Nice to know the pendulum is swinging back. To hell with a $400 Acrolite.

Hammered Acros are really cool if you can find them, or are.. um, confident in your DIY abilities.

Got it and that thing kicks ass. I really like it. I’ve also been keeping it on the coffee table covered with a tea towel for my daughter to bang on while she watches tv. Thanks y’all!
