Shit. I just mentioned him in the Helmet thread the other day. Mind-blowing drummer during his tenure in Swans. Just cue up the original studio version of "Your Property." It's heavy and weirdly swinging all at once. Quite a decent producer as well. Sure, he did a lot of glossy, predictable stuff later on, but those first few Young Gods records are something. He also worked w/some other interesting Swiss post-punk bands in the '80s. Perverse and funny individual, as well. RIP.

Amazing photo of the late Roli Mosimann. Two of several striking things about it: The size of his drums (which I had the pleasure of seeing in person when I rehearsed in the space where he stored them). And the sheer number of empty beers at his feet. There are several more out of the frame. Kind of incredible that he could keep time in such a painfully slow and heavy manner after all that brew.
