John Amos in August but his death was confirmed today. I couldn't imagine a childhood without James Evans, Sr., Kunta Kinte, or, much later, Cleo McDowell.

When John Amos' character in Good Times died, I was young enough to think that the reason they had written him out was because the actor had died in real life. I don't think I saw him again in anything else until Coming to America, and I remember being surprised. Was kind of surprised this morning, in fact.

Jerry Skluzacek; friend and bassist in a band we were both in for about 10ish years. He was killed in a carjacking this Tuesday. Fucking awful.
