Amazing! Very familiar. I go out there a few times a year. Gorgeous spot.

Went to a family reunion in Corsicana today. Cousin Todd pissed off my mom. Cousin Peggy said I have a pretty face. So many mayonnaise-based salads. So many casseroles.

In school we were taught the 'c' is for ceiling (stalactite) and the 'g' is for ground ;)

Congrats on the new gig. It sounds like a dream job.

My glasses broke all of a sudden. Thankfully I had a couple of contacts left but they are NOT comfortable when you're not used to wearing them. Feels like having tired eyes the entire day.

I love this for you. I mean, the good news is that you're gonna be outdoors and enjoying the world. The bad news is that you have to deal with The Public. And some of them are really dumb.

Me? I've been busier than I've ever been. Between working on my in-laws' house and fighting with Steve Austin, the $6 million Subaru Forester, I'm always dirty, tired, covered in paint or grease, and nothing ever seems to be finished. Couple that with trying to keep the house together while L. goes through chemotherapy, and I'm about half dead. Maybe 3/4. Hard to be optimistic.

Any time there is something I need to do, no matter how insignificant and easily disposed of, the very fact of having this thing in front of me and thinking about it, can make me nearly incapacitated for days, not only shoving to the side everything else I need to do, including common everyday things like cleaning or shopping for food, in order to make space for this other thing, while still never getting to do this other thing.

This is one of those times.

I just fixed an old Zippo lighter of mine that hasn't worked in a while. I don't smoke -- I just really enjoy the tactile feel of holding and operating them. For me they are the ultimate fidget tool.

The combination of hearing the unique "clank" of the lid opening and the accompanying fuel smell takes me straight back to childhood associations of being with my Dad, who was a solid pack-a-day smoker back then. Simpler times. Not crap.
