Hexpane wrote:ill prolly get married for tax purposes and because i love my girlfriend and it seems like the right thing to do in terms of economic stability.

but as an institution it seems to be having issues w/ divorce rates and such.

I vote let the gays marry but make it illegal to get a divorce!

What are all the divorce lawyers gonna do then huh? They'll be out of work and then they won't be able to support themselves or their families and there wives will leave them and they'll become depressed transients with nothing to lose and one day you be pumping gas, and they'll mug you. It's a slippery slope man, think about it.
Oh and NOT CRAP for some reason I've always thought the idea of hanging out with someone awesome for the rest of your life would be amazing, I suppose you don't have to go through the whole ordeal of a ceremony, but you also don't have to celebrate your birthday to get older it just seems like fun to me.

I've been married for 13 years. I dig it. Originally it was a relationship that was a real relationship, but across countries - we probably wouldn't have got married so soon except we wanted to LIVE TOGETHER in the SAME COUNTRY so we went ahead and did it. Could of blown up in my face, but she turned out lovely and we're very happy. I can see why some people don't dig the institution, but I'm sort of an old fashioned guy, so I'm okay. And you're okay. I love you, EA Board.

I'm too young to even think about this.

The idea of marriage isn't appealing to me. The idea of making something with my fluids isn't, either. I would like to adopt if I have the resources (money) and time (for the child). Adopting is something that I would do even if I had to borrow money to do it. Raising a child can be one of the most fulfilling things that I can imagine.

That being said. If I was with a woman that I loved and she wanted marriage-- I would accommodate her. I would do the proposing, even.

If she wanted a child, I would also oblige by impregnating her.

I don't know what is going to happen. Love is a complicated thing. I don't like the idea of marriage or contributing to a population crisis, but at the end of the day I am going to make whatever decision is best for a woman that I love.

Having just watched a friend's 7-year marriage implode right in front of my eyes over the weekend, and also knowing someone else in the throes of a divorce (with a 5-year-old autistic son in the middle to boot) (and it's also worth noting that not only did both of my parents remarry after their divorce, but eventually divorced their second spouses as well), have helped reinforce my waning cynicism toward the institution. Good thing, too, as I was beginning to think it might not be a totally crap idea someday.

Getting divorced now after being married for four years. My wife left and after exhausting ever option I have been forced to do this. At first I was upset, now just indifferent. Most of those years were good and I would probably do it again. I'm a little bit older and wiser now because of it.

I don't plan on ever getting married, I've never been fond of the idea.

There's nothing wrong with spending the rest of your life with a woman, without having to do the ring/vows/dress-up/ceremony shit. Kids out of wedlock when I'm in my mid thirties sounds good.

Note to everyone who has kids.

If your kid is over the age of 3 and wearing a "cute dinosaur" shirt, he is a fucking pussy.

At the "overpriced bullshit you buy for parties" store this typical bay area white trash mom and her lil dinopussy brat HOLY FUCKING HELL I need to meet her husband.

Who lets a 5 year old run the show whining "NO! I want THAT ONE" just pay for your schwag and move your lil faggot son out of the way. I mean you are at the register, its not time to show lil douchebag all the impulse buy schwag.

Also note, 5 year old pussies are not good party planners. Plan the fucking party yourself, you are a 40 year old who doesnt even work, fill your time up w/ this nonsense. Letting a 5 year old plan the party, jeezus

I've watched some close friends get completely fucked over by the wives /wives by husbands too.

sounds similar to what I went through a few years back, although we were never married , same deal. Long term relationship that turned bitter and eventually turned indifferent (on my end) you dont need to be married to want out of a LTR
