I'd like to hear your opinion when you're 84.

My great grandfather lived to be 102.
I remember going to see him and all he'd do is complain about still being alive.
'Hey gramps, how are you doing?'
'I'll be doing a whole hellava lot better when I'm dead, I'll tell you that much'
'Uh, OK then'
He drank and smoked his entire life, by the way.

Odds are you'd get progressively fucked up and unhealthy from something else even if you didn't smoke.
How many elderly motherfuckers you see out winning kickboxing tournaments? Fuck that, how many are even able to move themselves around the house to take a shit?
1 in 10?
Humans were not designed to live to be 100 fucking years old, it's completely unnatural.

There's a lot of really healthy, really old ta'i chi masters would argue otherwise. They tend to stay that way then just drop dead unexpectedly. It's a mark of our society that we expect to die of some disease or other rather than just being old. Ta'i chi requires increased lung capacity and packs oxygen into the body like nobody's business, so smoking doesn't help. The pay-off is getting to be yourself, but old, sane, competent, continent, and far wiser than the twenty/thirty-odd-year-old you could hope to be. And healthy on the way. Plus, you'd be a fucking ta'i chi master. Cool.
