What about it do you disagree with? The idea that critically lauded albums can be disliked? I don't mean to be argumentative. I just don't understand.

No. I guess you are right. I'm not going to start a nerblybear style argument over headnodability. My fault.

Nice to meet you.

Fixing a Hole vs. The Song is Over - Who

Man, really? I mean, Fixing a Hole is pretty lame, but The Song is Over is just plain bad.

The rest of the record destroys anything on Sgt Pepper's. A Day in the Life is an achievement, but it has never moved me much.

hey no problem with different strokes here.

and 'the song is over' is bad.

but the fucking meh-ness of 'fixing a hole' is astounding. what irks me even more is that people think 'within you without you' is the one black mark on sgt. peppers. 'fixing a hole' aggravates the SHIT out of me.

p.s. for what is, in effect, a throwaway, teh drums on 'going mobile' are KILLER.

both were for the most part a california thing, along with circle jerks (who i hate), who were more specifically an LA thing.

Kennedys were Oakland, I thought.

I lived in the area from which Black Flag emerged. No one ever talked about them.

oakland is in california. i don't know if the specific origin of dk was sf or oakland.

i quite like the sex pistols' music, even the great rock n roll swindle.

It has nothing to do with the "visual effect". But meh.

What instrument do you play Fuzzbob?

The question isn't in any way a dig either - I'm just interested as most musicians I've met have been impressed by her, regardless of the voice - (which I quite like anyway).

I'm a guitarist, which may make sense after I explain: many guitarists are generally unimpressed by musicianship as an end in itself these days, after literally decades of enduring the whole "muso wanker guitar hero" thing. You can blow your load all over the fretboard all day long, but at the end of the day, you're still a member of Toto or Night Ranger playing crappy Toto or Night Ranger music. Motorinnnnn!!!!!

It never really occurred to me that JN is considered a "virtuoso" of the harp, but then again, it doesn't change the way the aesthete in me reacts to her music.

I think Black Sabbath is underrated even by some of the people that love them. IMO they get plenty of credit for being an amazing heavy rock band, but they were more versatile and had more going on than just that.
