Midge, the movie you're thinking of was actually made by Frederick Wiseman, one of the very best documentary filmmakers in America, or anywhere else for that matter. His films are now finally available on DVD, btw. Just about all of them explore social issues and the general corruption of institutions in the U.S.

You know the scene in Rushmore in which Max is at the public high school and trying to use the pay phone and the hall monitor hangs the phone up because Max doesn't have a pass to use it? Well, that was a reference to Wiseman's classic film High School, in which a simialr incident occurred. Kinda neat, eh?

No problem; you're not being a dick. I was just getting bad stomach problems when drinking, and I hate hangovers. I guess I want to stop drinking permanently, and I thought a month would be a good time period to test it out. Its been like a week, and its been pretty good.

Same for me, minus the stomach problems. Long dark Canadian winters and little excitement has led to a bad habit, not addiction. I know for a fact that it won't be hard to quit drinking. I'm just going to use the month as a trial and see how I feel then. If energy and health levels are up then I'll expect to severely reduce or cut out drinking altogether.

For some reason, every kid with an ipod and a facial piercing seems to know about SKWM now. When the documentary hits I can only assume there will be even bigger demand for those records.

Is there a chance that 12XU would re-issue these albums? Or Touch & Go?

No seriously. We were just having a conversation tonight about how more and more people seem to be digging SKWM now. I figure what with the internet becoming the main way that most hipsters find out about music and there actually being a surprisingly strong blogging presence of folks that really, really loved SKWM, word is getting out a bit more. Plus, all of these associated projects have been putting blips on the radar - The tribute album, the documentary, Hammer of the Gods got some rave reviews etc. Even Pitchfork seems to be content with pretending they liked the band all along. Think about how long it took people to 'get' Mission of Burma. I think it will be the same sort of thing.

Just a thought but what do I know anyway?
