a friend of mine wanted to open a bar in logan square &/or west town named gentrifiche.

i could see opening a frat bar called the trough. put it up at lincoln and fullerton. just a big damn trough from one end of the room to the other. have a keg full of natty light waterfalling into the trough at all times. add a bunch of well-brand hard liquor too. maybe a separate ladies' trough - more natty light, with some amaretto and some sour mix.

all the restrooms would be on the second floor of the building. there would be some troughs up there. all troughs would be interconnected. i think this could be a great theme bar.

Anyone ever been to Nig's in the Dells?

YES!

And I bought the T-Shirt. It has the "I had a Swig at Nig's" with a giant "99" on it (for 1999, the year I bought the shirt). Is that place popular?

Anyway, I would like to open a bar in PARIS called "AVEC GLACON". It would be a dumpy ex-pat bar with baseball on the TV and as much ice as you'd like in your drinks. Seriously, would it kill them to put ice in a drink over there, if you asked nicely? It's one of the only things I missed about the good ol' USA.

So, yes. Cheap bar in the manner of a Chicago carry-out joint, with ice, with baseball on the TV, with a logo like this: a rocks glass full of ice with a miniature baseball bat stirring the drink: Avec Glacon.

OK.
there is only one clear path and it's paved with bacon.

I think I went to that spy bar in Milwaukee, except we went in through some random door that said "Exports" on it that just led to a small room. Then you had to pull a lever or something and a secret door opened up. Would've been great fun if I was 12.
and a dickhead.
The only decent thing about the place was the monitor they had over the bar. It showed the people walking into the front room and standing vacant and clueless. The barman (after a while )would shout at em over a loudspeaker "PULL THE LEVER".
